ABOUT
This charming sketch comes to us from a larger collection of works by John Wilson of Seacroft Hall, Leeds (1808–1891). John's family had been in the linen business for generations, and with their fortune aquired Seacroft Hall, which he would come to inherit.
In 1846, John married Anna Maria Isabella Macleod, the daughter of a prominent Scottish politician. Wilson's drawings record his travels in the UK in the 1860s and 1870s, with locations in Scotland in particular and the Torquay area of Devon, both of which had connections with his wife.
